Venezuelans To Enjoy New Rights

CARACAS, VENEZUELA--Venezuelans with disabilities will have new rights under a law passed Thursday by the South American country's National Assembly.

The measure guarantees health care for people with disabilities as is already provided for people that have diabetes and certain other medical conditions.

It also requires employers to set aside five percent of their positions for workers with disabilities, replacing a previous law which only required a two percent set-aside for companies with more than 50 employees.

Additionally, public and private media firms will be required to include accessibility features, such as sign language, and public transportation facilities will become more usable.
