Video modeling is a tool that helps to develop and strengthen communication skills, and social and self help skills for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The person watches a video that shows what to do and how to respond to a particular situation , such as an emergency, and them memorizes and refers to the response so that he/she will do the same when that situation arises.
The AAC-RERC recognized the need for downloadable ready-made communication boards with core vocabulary for emergency situations. Diane N. Bryen, professor emerita, Temple University coordinated groups of volunteers who developed Communication 4 ALL, symbolated sets of communication boards available in multiple languages. The sets are available in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole languages from the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University:
