Interest in developmental disabilities	I have had many great experiences (going back to high school) working with individuals with developmental disabilities. In all of my work I have been very interested in meeting individual needs based on a strengths perspective that holds that all of us have gifts to share and develop. Working with individuals with disabilities and their families fits into my world view that we all benefit if we all are contributing.
Experience in developmental disabilities	I volunteered for two years in high school at a state residential center for children with developmental disabilities. It was the most meaningful (and enjoyable) part of those days. Since then, I have worked in the field of disabilities for over 28 years and have come to appreciate how meeting individual needs with support and resources can come in many settings. My work has included teaching, counseling, writing and research, and the provision of technical assistance to families and agencies all around the country.
Anything else about yourself	Most recently, I have done a lot of work related to Autism Spectrum Disorders and served a fellowship at the University of Minnesota in their Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disorders Program (LEND).
