Interest in developmental disabilities See below
Experience in developmental disabilities Loraine started her career with a year long disabilities work-study in Sweden. She later worked in community-based services in Nebraska where she grew up then moved to Minnesota in the early 1980s.

Her first job in Minnesota was executive director of the Douglas County Developmental Achievement Center. She was one of the original regional services specialists when the DD waiver first started and developed some of the first Rule 185 case management training for counties.

For eight years she worked as a regional early childhood special education coordinator and regional interagency systems change coordinator in west central Minnesota before starting her own consulting business working with public, private and nonprofit organizations.

Recently, she was the manager of home and community living services for DHS. She is now the State Personnel Development Coordinator for the Minnesota Dept. of Education.
Anything else about yourself Loraine was selected by the Bush Foundation for a leadership fellowship in 2001. She used this opportunity to complete her master’s degree from the University of Minnesota Hubert H. Humphrey Institute for Public Affairs. During her fellowship, she also completed internships at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. and at the Minnesota Legislature.
